Top 10 Bali Waterfalls Worth the Hike

Bali’s interior is criss-crossed by rivers that tumble down from volcanic mountains in spectacular waterfalls. Many require a short trek but reward visitors with pristine natural pools for swimming.

1. Sekumpul Waterfall

Often called the most beautiful waterfall in Bali, Sekumpul is actually a cluster of seven waterfalls surrounded by dense jungle. The hike down is steep but absolutely worth the effort.

2. Nungnung Waterfall

Hidden in the highlands near Ubud, Nungnung requires a descent of around 500 steps but rewards with a powerful 50-metre cascade into a cool pool.

3. Tegenungan Waterfall

One of the most accessible waterfalls in Bali, Tegenungan is just 30 minutes from Ubud and features a wide, impressive cascade with good swimming conditions.

4. Gitgit Waterfall

Located in the north of Bali near Singaraja, Gitgit is surrounded by lush tropical forest and relatively easy to reach. A popular day trip from the northern coast.

5. Aling-Aling Waterfall

Famous for its natural water slides and cliff jumping opportunities, Aling-Aling in north Bali is an adrenaline-seeker’s paradise with four separate falls in the same gorge.

6. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

A beautifully photogenic waterfall with water cascading across layered volcanic rock formations. Very popular with photographers for its unique textured appearance.

7. Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Hidden inside a narrow canyon carved by an underground river, Tukad Cepung is one of Bali’s most magical natural wonders. Light rays pierce the canopy and illuminate the mist in the mornings.

8. Yeh Mampeh Waterfall

One of Bali’s tallest waterfalls at 30 metres, Yeh Mampeh near Bangli is rarely crowded and surrounded by pristine jungle — a perfect off-the-beaten-path discovery.

9. Suwat Waterfall

Featured in the movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, Suwat’s broad cascade and accessible swimming hole make it a popular but still peaceful spot in the Gianyar region.

10. Munduk Waterfall

In the cool highlands around Munduk village, this lovely waterfall sits amid clove and coffee plantations. The cooler temperatures make hiking here a refreshing change from the coast.
